What is Macrame?
Macrame is a type of fibre art that uses hand knotting techniques to create ornamental wall hangings, plant hangers, placemats, jewelry and much more - even clothing! Other types of fibre art - such as weaving, knitting or crochet - use different tools and knots. Weaving also uses a tool called a loom, which is not used in macrame.
The art of Macrame has been around for centuries - and was ever so popular in the 1970’s. However, this isn’t your Grandma’s macrame - todays fibre arts tend to have a more modern and minimalist aesthetic compared to macrame you would find from the 1970’s.
Minimalist Macrame’s goal is to help budding artists learn about macrame knots and techniques and to provide premium supplies to help you get knotting. Anything you need - from getting your macrame workspace set up, choosing the macrame supplies suited to your project, and how to hang your macrame - we’ve got you.
